Mark Williams may have missed out on the Melbourne coaching gig, but he appears in the box seat to land at St Kilda, priced as the $2.50 favourite with online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia to be the Saints’ next coach after Scott Watters was sacked today.
So strong has the support been for Williams that punters jumped on him as soon as the market was opened, with his price firming from $3.00 to $2.50 within half an hour.
Scott Burns, John Worsfold, Michael Voss and club legend Robert Harvey are next in the market at $6.00.
“Harvey might be the sentimental favourite but the punters have come for Williams. He is the only one they want to be on and is the clear favourite at $2.50,” said Sportsbet’s Shaun Anderson.
