Oakleigh Girl Favourite For Magic Millions

MILLIONS TO BECOME CLEARER

Local filly Oakleigh Girl ($2.60) heads the market for Saturday’s B.J. McLachlan Stakes where she takes on several highly fancied Magic Millions rivals.

While Oakleigh Girl is favourite ahead of Echo Gal ($3.30) for the Doomben two-year-old race, the roles are reversed for the next month’s Millions at the Gold Coast.

“The Magic Million market could change dramatically after the B.J. McLachlan. Oakleigh Girl is favourite here because she has drawn inside Echo Gal, from a tough starting point for widely drawn runners. But there’s plenty of class horseflesh here and any one of them could step-up,” Sportsbet’s Ben Hawes said.

Impressive Wyong Millions winner Unencumbered is on the third line of betting at $5.50 and Sagatona, who turned in an eye-catching run at Doomben last week, is $8.50. The rest of the field are at $15 or more.

Tomic & Stosur To Start Hopman Cup Favs

Australian pair Bernard Tomic and Sam Stosur are favourites to win the 2014 Hopman Cup, priced at $4.50 by online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia.

The hometown team just heads the betting from the USA ($5.00), France ($5.50) and first up opponents Canada ($5.50). The Czech Republic ($6.00), Italy ($13), Poland and Spain (both $26) round out the field.

Interestingly, Tomic will start his head to head match against Milos Raonic as the outsider, priced at $2.59 with the Canadian the $1.46 favourite. Sam Stosur is a well backed favourite ($1.50) for her clash against Eugenie Bouchard ($2.50).

“The Aussie pair are the best backed team by punters to win the Hopman Cup and we think they’re the team to beat. Bernie just needs to stay of the tiles until after the event is over!” Sportsbet’s Ben Hawes said.

Tomic and Stosur are currently $101 and $41 shots respectively to win their upcoming Australian Open tournaments.

Wild Oats Favourite For Sydney To Hobart

The odds are shortening that Wild Oats XI will win Sydney To Hobart line honours for a seventh occasion in 2013, with punters cutting the supermaxi’s odds of victory from $1.80 into $1.70 at Sportingbet.

As a result of a high-volume of bets for Wild Oats XI, its main rival Perpetual Loyal has eased from $2.40 to $2.75 at Sportingbet.

Beau Geste has been the best backed to beat the favourite, firming from $13 into $8, while Ragamuffin 100 has drifted from $6.50 to $8.

“We’ve written three times more bets for Wild Oats XI than any other contender while Perpetual Loyal has been friendless with punters in the past 48 hours,” Sportingbet spokesman Andrew Brown said.

Wild Oats XI is also a $1.90 favourite to be first through the heads.

All they want for Christmas is…..a win!

It’s been a very long time between drinks for both the Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Heart and now online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au is pitting them up against each other to see who’ll put their long suffering fans out of their misery and win a game first.

The Thunder are the $1.70 favourite to end their 14-game skid and enjoy that winning feeling first, with the Heart the $2.10 outsider.

“Sitting on the bottom of tables is the norm for these two right now so it’s no surprise the Thunder and Heart are at the bottom of our markets and at the biggest prices to win the Big Bash and A-League crowns this season,” Sportsbet’s Ben Hawes said.

The Thunder are out to $12 to win the Big Bash and the Heart are out to their biggest price to win the A-League since the season started, drifting from $41 to $67 after losing to the Melbourne derby at the weekend.

Mundine Finds Some Support In Betting

Anthony Mundine ($2.45) is more popular than Shane Mosley ($1.55) today as support builds for an upset tomorrow night at Allphones Arena.

Mosley has been the more popular fighter since betting opened on November 13, but the most interest has been with “The Man” in the past 24 hours.

Mundine was $2.75 yesterday and has firmed to $2.45 to win the WBA light middleweight title fight.

One punter is confident the 42-year-old Mosley will be too good for Mundine, they had $10,000 @ $1.47 yesterday.

The American is expected to end the fight with a knock-out, which is the most popular option at $2.25.

Tom Boyd Long Odds To Play The Most Games From the AFL Draftees

Tom Boyd may have been the number 1 pick last night but there is no certainty that he will make an immediate impact according to betting markets by online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia.

While he already has the rig of a grown man, the full forward is priced at $9.00 to play the most games in 2014 of the top 10 draftees.

As a result, Kangaroos father-son selection Luke McDonald finds himself as the $3.25 favourite in the market.

Jack Billings and James Aish are both good odds of $5.00 to play the most games of the top 10, while Nathan Freeman, Matthew Scharenberg and Marcus Bontempelli look to be given time to develop and are outsiders in the market at $10.

But in better news for Giants fans, Boyd is tipped to be the best in front of goal, priced at $1.80 to kick the most goals next season out of every draftee.

Hawthorn’s gamble on Dayle Gartlett could also pay off, with the West Australian $6.00 to kick the most goals in 2014.

“McDonald has already been in the Kangaroos system and looks a good chance to slip straight into their midfield. The Giants aren’t exactly short of key forwards so Boyd is longer odds to play the most games next year,” said Sportsbet’s Shaun Anderson.

Aussies In Ashes Box Seat After Opening Test Win

Australia has firmed from $2.50 to $1.70 to win back the Ashes after a crushing victory against England at the Gabba.

England is now out to $3.75 to win the series and $2.15 to retain the Ashes.

The visitors have opened outsiders to bounce back and win the second Test in Adelaide starting on 5 December.

“Australia is already proving popular at $2.70 to take an early 2-0 series lead,” said TAB’s Matt Jenkins.

“However, England thrashed Australia in Adelaide last time they met at the venue and should be suited by conditions.”

Australia found themselves 3-2 in the first innings at Adelaide Oval in the 2010 Ashes series; England won by an innings and 71 runs.

Graeme Swann took only two wickets in Brisbane, but will be better suited in Adelaide where he took seven wickets last time.

Kevin Pietersen made 227 in the first innings last time in Adelaide. Any player to make a double-ton in the Ashes series is $2.35.

Mosley Finding Plenty Of Support To Blouse Mundine

Punters are well and truly in Shane Mosley’s corner ahead of his superweight bout against Anthony Mundine on Wednesday in Sydney.

Mosley’s odds of victory have been slashed from $1.65 into $1.60 at Sportingbet.com.au amid a number of significant wagers, while Mundine’s odds have drifted from $2.30 out to $2.40.

“The money has been running 80/20 in Mosley’s favour and we’ve written three times as many tickets for Mosley to win by KO than what we have for Mundine,” Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown said.

Mosley is $2.25 at Sportingbet to win by KO or TKO while Mundine is $9.00.

Punters are tipping the fight to go into a tenth round, with over 9.5 rounds a $1.45 favourite ahead of under 9.5 rounds at $2.75.

Aussie Favoured In Ashes Betting To Upset Poms Again

Australia are $2.60 favourites to take a stranglehold on the Ashes series with England in the second Test in Adelaide.

Following their crushing loss in Brisbane, online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia has posted the visitors at $3.20 for the Adelaide Test, which starts on December 5.

“No doubt the Poms will be keen to bounce back, especially after they were heavily beaten. However, it will be very tough for them as the Aussies will take good form and a lot of confidence into the next Test,’’ sportsbet’s Shaun Anderson said.

Australia’s 1-0 lead sees them move into $1.72 to regain the Ashes, with England $2.10 to hang onto it.

Gai & Ollie Firm In Betting To Win Ballarat Cup

Melbourne Cup winning duo Gai Waterhouse and Damien Oliver are favourites to win some more silverware in Sunday’s Sportsbet-Ballarat Cup.

Fresh from Melbourne Cup success with Fiorente, the Waterhouse trained The Offer is $3.20 favourite with online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia.

“It looks to be a pretty tight market and punters are yet to declare who they want to be on, but we’re expecting them to get behind The Offer because of the Gai and Ollie factor,’’ sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson said.

Whispser Downs ($13) is the best backed runner and Garud ($8.00) also has admirers.

While all eyes will be on the Cup, punters at the track will also have their own chance to win thanks to the Sportsbet Ballarat Reverse Race!

25 people will have the chance to win $5,00 and all they have to do is win a 100 metre race… running backwards! Punters will have the chance to put their name forward for the race at the track.
